MASERU — Standard Lesotho Bank on Tuesday presented a cheque for M20 000 to Matsieng Development Trust Fund that helps disadvantaged individuals.

The cheque was received by His Majesty King Letsie III on behalf of the Fund at a ceremony held at the Royal Palace in Maseru.

Matsieng Development Trust Fund is run by the Royal Family to help disadvantaged people.

Standard Lesotho Bank managing director, Mpho Vumbukani, said the donation was a token of appreciation to the community and would benefit disadvantaged children.

Vumbukani said this was a way of showing appreciation to their customers for what they are doing for the bank.

“The year 2011 was a success and this is because of our sincere customers. On behalf of Standard Lesotho Bank I would like to express my gratitude to all our customers,” he said.

Standard Lesotho Bank had decided to use part of their 2011 profits to give back to the community.

His Majesty King Letsie III expressed gratitude to the bank and urged it to keep up the good work.

“I would like to thank Standard Lesotho Bank and all its members of staff for recognising the needy and I wish them success because their success is for the whole nation,” His Majesty said.

Standard Lesotho Bank marketing manager, Mamoabi Ralebitso, said: “There is much more happiness in giving than in receiving hence we gave back to the community.

“We believe in giving. That is why we decided to share our profits with the needy. People should practise sharing and see what comes out of it,” Ralebitso said.
