STEAMING IT OFF
“KARMA! What goes around comes back around!”
Those are my favourite words to “curse” a person with when they have done me wrong — especially when I get the urge to do something drastic, which will have a lasting effect.
But sometimes when you do things all in the name of revenge, you might hurt yourself along the way if you are not careful.
So it is important that either you do not revenge whatever misdeed was doled unto you or you do it in a smart way.
I have heard that they say “revenge is a dish best served cold” and that “revenge is sweet”.
Would that mean revenge is a sweet cold dish?
Oooohhhh, that brings visions of a bowl of ice cream, cold yoghurt smothering fresh fruit, a platter of cold meats.
Eish, I am making myself drool with all these images and now I am seeing apparitions floating in this room.
Oh, someone help — eish — I am losing track again! Ok, so, back to the dish — no, topic: Revenge!
Recently I heard a track on how this chick broke the windows of her man’s car. Hey, it seems men really have a strange ability of turning sweet women into real monsters.
I am not about to stand here and say all those women who broke car windows or did worse things were sweet pussy-cats who were rubbed the wrong way and became tigers.
Some of these women are pure, no nonsense alley cats who would not bat an eye when stabbing you (literally) in the name of revenge.
I have heard stories of revenge that made my toes curl and all I could say was: “I thank you Lord it was not me”. I am serious!
Check out the silly wimp of a guy who decided to post naked pictures of his ex-girlfriend when she dumped him.
He may have done some really bad things for her to dump him, or maybe she felt it was time to move on. I do not know.
But really now, dude, those were intimate moments between the two of you. Why betray the trust?
Now look what happened? All in the name of revenge, you put her that low and since she could not handle it she killed herself.
How are you living with yourself?
I guess in this scenario anything could have happened.
She could have lived with the embarrassing footage, or sued the boy. I think she could have cashed in on it somehow — especially because she was hot.
This kind of revenge has different modes — some avengers post very intimate (explicit) videos, secrets and even publish books.
Before the internet age we always somehow found love-letters in odd places and we would read them — to the chagrin of the writer and amusement of the avenger.
But really now, was it worth it? I do not know. I am yet to do it. Hahahaha!
Another freaky example is burning the house, or breaking the windows, burning clothes and other hectic things that we have seen.
While you are blinded by revenge and you impulsively do something like that or worse, remember that justice prevails (well most of the times) and you will find yourself with a criminal record.
For what? Just because he decided he wanted a size ten and you are a size fourteen?
I would personally like to try this one — and it will not be just for a man, even bad friends would get this treatment.
I want to collect all his/her clothes — I mean everything I can get my hands on — and deliver them to the next orphanage.
Now, that would be a blow to someone’s so called ego.
And I figure I really have got nothing to lose on this one.
I know someone who avenged her cheating man by deleting each and every file on his home computer and laptop and making everything worse by infecting his memory disc thus he infected the computer at work.
That was a hell of a blow and she was grinning for a few days, until she realised that some of her work was on the home computer.
And then there is a guy whose wife cheated on him with his mate.
He confronted the two about the affair and they just laughed at him and made him feel like a fool.
Then one day he saw them together and decided to trap them.
He rushed home and drenched the bed with water, remade the bed and disappeared from the house.
After an hour or so he came to the house, found the two naked and wet in his bedroom.
Now, I call that classy revenge.
However we should realise that this suffocating emotion and reaction called revenge has done so much damage to the avenger than the person that the revenge is intended.
So, here is the thing, you can all go around telling yourselves you are so going to get so and so for doing whatever they did to you.
But if you sit down for a moment and clear your mind, you might find that, that person may have done you a favour by removing themselves near you.
They could have done worse. By taking that deep breath you could also be lowering your stress levels.
But most importantly you will be clearing your head enough so that you serve this sweet dish elegantly and maybe with a dessert too.
