
. . . Easter entertainment line-up jam-packed

MASERU — Revelers will be spoilt for choice this Easter as the holiday will be jam-packed with a number of events lined up.
Kick-starting the long weekend will be the Easter Blackout, a Hip Hop show bankrolled by Skyy Vodka that will see South African disc spinner and owner of Pop Bottles Entertainment, DJ Dimplez, rock Maseru for the first time. DJ Dimplez will be supported by DJ Zandla and Jab a Jaw who also hail from Johannesburg. DJ Mathematikz from Botswana and local acts, DJ Mekonko, Macs on the Decks, as well as a host of deejays from Grown Folk Music, add to this glittering line up. The show will run from 2pm on Friday till the early hours of Saturday at the Central Park.
The Jammin’ n Ting Festival, to be held at Rustlers Valley in Ficksburg, will also roar into life on Friday and run till Monday. The event will encompass an array of artistic expression from poets, musicians to deejays. Local artistes, Ragga Vybz, Pitso Rah Makhula, DJ Redz aka Retselisitose, Slayer and Gat Quality artistes, are set to perform alongside South African acts.
Saturday will the peak period for the gigs lined up and ravers will have a hard time deciding where to be.
From 10am, Maseru Club will be the place to be for beer, ale and lager aficionados as they will get to sample brews made by enthusiasts from Lesotho and the rest of Africa.
The event is meant to acquaint people from around the world to the tastes of different African products, which will also include flavoured beers, spirits and vodkas. Most of the products are not available in mainstream outlets as they are made by amateur brewers.
Punters can look forward to such African-made beers as Dragon Fiery Ginger, African Pale Ale, Copper Lake Chocolate and Soweto Gold.
On the same day, the curtain will close on the exciting art exhibition dubbed the Fabulous Beasts, which has been showcased at Morija’s Meader House Gallery since last Saturday.
Curated by artist, Patrick Rorke, Fabulous Beasts illustrates animals in the form of clay, paper, pastels and painting. The art pieces were created by children and adults.
The much-anticipated Econet Buddie Zone Concert, featuring a star-studded line-up of artists will erupt on Saturday, just after midday.
The festival is the major highlight of the long weekend with throngs of youths expected the fill Setsoto Stadium to watch their favourite artistes perform. Unfortunately for fans under the age of 16, the show will be off-limits, according to organisers.
Sunday will be more laid back with soulful music being on offer. Oozy Records will play host to soulful house and Lounge music fans in a show dubbed Sunday Shisa-nyama Sessions at Litaleng.
The event will see deep house heavyweights, OozySoul, Mekonko, Thoxie, Kopper and Karma K, do what they do best behind the decks with fans expected to bring their camp chairs to relax and enjoy the soulful house music. Entrance for the show will be free.
Monday will see the election of the new Beauty Pageants Association of Lesotho to ensure the smooth functioning of the organisation. There will also be a discussion on Miss Heritage 2014, an international pageant Lesotho is set to host sometime in December.
