MASERU – Three men appeared in court this week accused of armed robbery, attempted murder and unlawful possession of arms.
The three – Francis Mokoma, Samson Malakane and Thato Katisa – looked unperturbed as one witness described how they attacked him.
Motsamai Nyokole, 41, who is one of the key witnesses was brought to the courtroom in a wheelchair because he is still to recover from injuries he suffered during the attack.
He said he was employed as a night watchman at Black Forest business centre at Ha Mabote when the three allegedly attacked him.
“The shop was already closed and I was in the bar to protect myself from the winter cold,” he said.
He said someone called his name from outside and ordered him to open the door.
“Someone said raise your hands Satan. I was shot on the hip.
“They said they had not come to shoot me but they had to because I looked too clever.”
Nyokole said the man took M100 from his wallet and the keys to the bar. They ransacked the bar for money before disappearing, he said
