Pupils injured in taxi crash

BEREA – Seven pupils from St Agnes High School were seriously injured when the taxi they were travelling in was involved in an accident last Saturday.

The pupils were coming from a sporting tournament in Mapoteng.

Police spokesman, Inspector Ntiea Monanthane, said the driver who they suspected was speeding and drunk lost control of the vehicle at a curve.

Inspector Monanthane said the vehicle “veered off the road and overturned in the process”.

He said the injured pupils were rushed to Berea Government Hospital in Teyateyaneng.

The driver, whose name could not be immediately verified, fled the scene of the accident. — Lena.
