THE president of the Ladies in a Men Dominated Game (LMDG) association Metlo Motaung says she is pleased with the strides they have made in the past four seasons.
LMDG hosted its third Premier League Explosion (PLEX) awards last Saturday at AME Hall in Maseru.
Aimed at celebrating premier league and women super league players, LMDG was formed by 11 ladies who support different premier league teams.
Three players are nominated from each team that finished in the top eight of the Econet Premier League.
In the Women Super League, they only take three nominees from the top three teams and the supporters get a chance to vote for the Fans Favourite.
The association was formed in 2016 and it held its first event a year later. Last weekend’s event was the association’s third.
Former Matlama striker Motebang Sera won the Last Man Standing Award in the male category while LDF’s Lerato Toloane scooped the Last Woman Standing accolade.
Motaung said she was happy with the positive response they have received and the event’s growth.
“We are pleased with how everything went,” Motaung said.
“The event was a success and we are happy although there are still some few challenges. However, we are happy with what we have achieved so far.
“We have seen a lot of growth in the past two events and this is attributed to the immense support that we have received. We have seen lot of growth from the past two events through the support of the various stakeholders among them the supporters, players and football administrators. We are really pleased with the support.”
She added that they are also considering engaging a professional events organiser to plan the next edition.
“The event has become too big for us to organise on our own, so to deliver the best we are considering engaging a professional.
“I am also happy for all the winners and I hope their achievements will motivate others.”
For her part, Lesotho Women Football Association president Puseletso Mokhosi thanked LMDG for their initiative and urged the supporters to increase their numbers at the games in the forthcoming season.
“This is a very good initiative coming from these ladies. We thank you for fostering change. Let us continue to grow this initiative in the coming years.
“Next year let us make it bigger. I pledge my support and I hope many more stakeholders also join to grow the event,” Mokhosi said.
