MASERU — Two months after winning promotion to the Premier League, Leribe outfit Nyenye Rovers completed a “double” when they won the A-Division Top Eight finals in Mokhotlong on Sunday.
“The fairytale continues,” Hopolang Ntseli, Rovers’ president, told the Lesotho Times this week.
“We are people who believe. I don’t know what else I can attribute this success to.”
It is definitely a fine success for a side that was only promoted to the A-Division at the beginning of this past season.
Nyenye Rovers got a bye in the quarter-finals in Mohale’s Hoek last month when Arsenal failed to show up for their clash.
Rovers then beat Sefothafotha in the semi-final on penalties before beating Mabeoana in the final, also on penalties, on Sunday.
The reward: M5 000.
Ntseli said the money would go mostly to transport and to the ongoing improvement of their home ground.
“We have built a winning mentality,” he said. “When we tell ourselves that we want to win something we do it, especially where money is involved.”
