Nedbank Lesotho Pioneer Mall Branch would now be opening for normal business on Sundays—the first local commercial bank to do so.
According to Nedbank Lesotho Managing Director (MD) Petrus Jurgens Bouwe, who announced the “good news” at a press conference held in Maseru on Monday this week, the move seeks to ensure increased public access to full banking services “at their convenient time”.
“As of Sunday, 7 December 2014, Nedbank Lesotho Pioneer Mall branch will open for service to the public between 9 am and 12 noon in a bid to ensure our clients conduct their banking business at their convenience whilst also attracting more clients to bank with us,” he said.
Mr Bouwer, who has been with the financial institution since November 2013,further said it was in Nedbank’s interest to offer “fulfilling services” to its clients, including affording them an opportunity to conduct business at their convenience.
Until Nedbank’s decision to offer full services on a Sunday, no other local bank was opening for business on this day.
“The opening would still be at the pilot stage, but we are looking forward to applying the same progress at other branches throughout the country. We will see how the public is going to receive the new development at Pioneer Mall branch and then review if it could be applied to other Nedbank Lesotho branches,” said Mr Bouwer.
