MASERU — Sixteen beauties are expected to strut their stuff in the second annual Miss Mazenod pageant on Saturday.

The contestants are drawn from villages round Mazenod, 15km south of Maseru.

Palesa Mokoloko, the organiser of Saturday’s event at Mazenod High School, said the pageant is open to young women aged between 17 and 23.

“We want to groom the girls into becoming better and strong women of tomorrow,” she said.

“This pageant is brought to the reach of young girls in communities who have a passion for modelling and it accommodates everyone despite their background.

“It is also meant to prepare these girls for the professional modelling industry.”

Mokoloko said the show was likely to be bigger and better than the first edition, which was won by 18-year-old Hapiloe Masoetsa.

“This year things are looking brighter for the pageant with preparations at an advanced stage,” she said.

“Our girls are now at the peak of their rehearsals.”

Local performers Daxiey, Mass Murders, Laxzen, Heart Breakers and Juvenile have been lined up for the show.

Lerumo la Koebu, K-tha, Black Candle and Master Peace are also billed to perform at the pageant.
