MISS Lesotho 2019 Palesa Makara has been invited to the Simply Exceptional Gala Dinner and the Dragon Dinner to be held on 11 and 12 September 2019 respectively in Bangkok, Thailand.
Count Gerald van der Straten Ponthoz Gerry, the chairperson of the Chao Phya Abhai Raja Foundation will host the gala dinners, which will put Thailand, Lesotho, and Belgium in focus, through their diamond and jewellery industries.
In a recent statement, Gerry said Miss Lesotho 2019 would appear in The Irresistible Show, featuring numerous dancers, performing on a musical creation of DJ Aopsher Srijongjai. Gerry said she would be dressed by Thai fashion designer Jaque Varazatiravatt and students of Chiangrai.
Palesa told the Weekender that she was excited to have been invited to the gala dinner.
“I am overwhelmed and excited to be participating at the Simply Exceptional Gala Dinner and I just can’t wait,” Palesa said.
The first dinner, which will take place at the Siam Kempinski Hotel, will be presided over by their Majesties King Letsie III and Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso, Her Royal Highness Princess Lea of Belgium, their Royal Highnesses Prince Naquiyuddin Ibni Tuanku Ja’afar and Princess Nurul Hayati of Malaysia among other royals.
Gerry said the dinners would showcase exceptional diamonds and jewellery from the House of Mouawad, Jeweler to Royalty, including the Mouawad Dragon, a world record.
“Fashion and entertainment will be part of the (first) evening with the participation of two Thai fashion designers, Tawn C Chatchavalvong and Voravaj Jaque Varazatiravatt,” Gerry said.
He said among the collection of 40 sets of high value jewelry to be unveiled during the event will be the Mouawad Dragon.
“The next day, the 12th, another dinner will be organised, during which the biggest round shape vivid yellow diamond in the world, the Mouawad Dragon, as well as the biggest dragon made of paper in the world, will be unveiled.”
He said other highlights of the collection include the Mouawad Dynasty, a record-breaking diamond from Russia, and the Majestic, a master piece crafted with diamonds from Lesotho.
Gerry also said Fred and Pascal Mouawad, the co-guardians of the House of Mouawad, would appear during the gala and share their passion for rare and exceptional diamonds with some of the most distinguished guests from Thailand and other foreign societies.
“The theme for the glamorous evening (Simply Exceptional Gala Dinner) will be ‘A diamond is found in Lesotho. The diamond flies to Antwerp, the world’s diamond capital, to be traded. The diamond then further flies to Thailand to be transformed into an exquisite jewellery master piece’.”
Gerry said they will have live performances of tracks like Diamonds are forever and Diamonds are the Girls’ Best Friends performed by guest singers Jintanant Chaya Subhamitr and Jaruwaree Snitwongs Na Ayuthaya.
He said there will be an unveiling of rare Mouawad diamonds and exceptional jewellery, of sizes and total value never exhibited in Thailand before, is certainly be the main highlight of the program of this gala dinner.
