URBAN music group Magic in Progress (MIP) has invited local rappers and poets to post videos of their performances and stand a chance to perform at an upcoming cypher whose date and venue are yet to be set.
A cypher is an informal gathering where artistes of different forms including beatboxers, rappers, and break dancers gather to jam musically together or the crowd that forms to watch freestyle battles.
The local cypher, the first in the country, will see rappers and poets battle it out for honours.
T-Mech, a Member of the MIP group said they were looking for the freshest, hardest and meanest rappers from across the country.
He said their main aim was to capture the skill and art throughout the country and give it to the world through music and videos.
He said they will be releasing a series of beats over a period of time to inspire and challenge all interested rising artistes with the winner being included in an official MIP cypher video which will be released in May this year.
“To qualify for the cypher, those who are interested need to send us a video or voice recording of them rapping to any of the available instrumentals,” T-Mech said.
He said the videos or voice recordings should be sent on any of their social media platforms being MIP_LS on Instagram and Magic in Progress on Facebook.
“We are challenging artistes like rappers and poets to come forward. Between eight to 16 people will be considered,” T-Mech said.
