MASERU — The country’s most successful football team Matlama are looking for a head coach to beef up their technical team, the Lesotho Times heard this week.
Matlama who are currently mentored by the duo of its former players, Lehlohonolo Mokhele and Sello Sehololo as coach and assistant coach respectively, ended the first round of the league seating on the third spot of the premier league table.
The duo took over from Mokoena Mohale at the start of the season after he was sacked by the then committee following a string of poor performances that saw the Maseru outfit finishing last season’s campaign at eighth position.
According to Matlama’s public relations officer, Ramafahla Thamae the management of the team is roping in a new coach in an attempt to reinforce the technical team with someone with more experience.
“We want to beef our team’s technical department with someone more experienced to become the technical director or head coach,” Thamae said.
He said they would not be axing the current coaching duo but, instead, said they would be expected to benefit from the experience of the candidate until they are ready to take over the big position.
“Both Seholoholo and Mokhele are the future of this team, they understand Matlama’s culture because they have spent many of their playing days at the team so we are not planning to relieve them off their duties any time,” Thamae said.
According to Thamae they are already in talks with some big names for the post although he could not divulge the names just as yet.
“We have CV’s from some big names rolling in already but I will not disclose their names yet until everything has been finalised,” Thamae said.
