A 28-YEAR old man from Ha Lenka, Qacha’s Nek has been remanded in custody for allegedly killing his brother over food.
Superintendent Clifford Molefe said police reports state Lenka Mokotso allegedly brawled with his brother over food on 10 September this year.
“It is alleged there was a feast for the traditional initiates on 10 September during which the suspect complained the initiates had been given little food. The two brothers allegedly fought over this,” he said.
“It is also alleged that while the two were arguing, the deceased took out a knife and tried to stab the suspect who overpowered him and fatally stabbed his brother.”
Superintendent Molefe said the suspect appeared in court on 13 September and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance set for 27 September.
Superintendent Molefe said the tragedy could have been avoided if the two brothers handled the situation in a different manner, adding that traditional leaders could have been approached to mediate.
