MASERU — Pioneer Mall will open to the public on Wednesday next week.
The mall will have 55 shops with Pick ’n Pay which will open for the first time in Lesotho, Life’s Comfort Solution and movie enterprise Sterkinekor as anchor tenants.
There will be two big cinemas with a sitting capacity of 300 people each and four smaller ones with a capacity of 100 each.
It will also have fast food franchises like Steers, Spurs, Steak Ranches, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Debornairs.
Covering a total surface of 20 000 square metres, the two-level-mall will have three parking bays with a capacity of 400 cars.
There will also be a taxi drop and pick lane.
Fast food outlets will have a combined sitting arrangement and there will be banking halls on the lower ground.
There is also space for business promotions and displays.
It has facilities to cater for the disabled including the lift and special toilets.
Its designers, DNT Architects, a husband and wife team-run by Theodore and Doreen Ntlatlapa say it was by far their biggest and most challenging project they had undertaken.
“This project was challeng-   ing because of the nature of the site, trying to replace a forest and a donga with a building is something challenging in itself,” Ntlatlapa told the Lesotho Times.
“A shopping mall this size is about functionality,” he said.
“There will be a total of four entrances, three on the upper level and one on the lower level.”
“The finishes are upmarket, and they are just as good as those you would find in any modern shopping malls in Bloemfontein and in Gauteng,” he said.
