MASERU — Ten local DJs and producers have joined forces to produce a 12-track house album.

The compilation, Kingdom of Lesotho (KOL) House Combination Volume 1, was launched at Litaleng in Maseru on Sunday.

T’sepo Molelekoa, Mr Maps, Touch Ellement, Macs on the Decks, One Short, Rev-R, Deluxzit, DJ Thabbie, DJ Phakzino and DJ Mosh are the brains behind the album.

“This album contains pure house sounds which are sure to make merrymakers dance non-stop,” DJ Hally, one of the producers, told the Weekender.

He said the album was initiated to encourage unity among local producers and avail to the people the best house sounds ever produced in Lesotho.

“I am very humbled by this project,” Hally said.

“As local producers, we were able to work together, know each other better and share our different ideas and at the end of the day make them one.

“The platform we have in this project, I believe, will have a great impact in the music industry of our country.”

The co-ordinator of the project, ‘Ma-Lord Mefane, said the album would hype up the mood for the upcoming festive season.

She said they planned to produce more albums every year.

“The plan is to work on the project continuously,” Mefane said.

“We want the album to stay alive forever so the next step from here is to bring Volume 2 if all works out well.”

She said the project was open to all artists.

“Our doors were open. If possible we would have accommodated as many producers as possible but we did not have enough resources to invite all producers,” she said.

“But hopefully if we decide on carrying out the project again, we will strive to get the message out to all interested artists especially because we want to boast with all our artists.”

Mefane said the music industry could only grow with artists working together.

“If these artists work together, not only will they exchange skills and become united, but they are promoting each other’s brands and music,” she said.

The album is expected to hit the shelves next month.
