LIPHAKOE’s long wait for their first 2019 Econet Premier League season win ended on Sunday after they sweated for a 1-0 win over Lifofane at Setsoto Stadium.

Thabo Matšoele’s penalty strike was enough to help Thabo Tšutšulupa’s charges to jump out of the relegation zone. The move helped Liphakoe move to 10th from 13th on the log table.

Before the Sunday win, Liphakoe had played six draws losing four matches.

On the other hand, the loss left Lifofane in third place with 18 points.

LMPS’ losing streak continued after they went down 1-0 to Likhopo at PTC Ground. Thabiso Mari was on target for the Red Army. The win helped the side move up to seventh with 14 points from 11 matches.

Simunye, as LMPS are affectionately known, have continued on a poor streak losing their fifth consecutive match on Sunday.

On Sunday Bantu continued with their fine form easing to a 2-0 win over LCS at Setsoto Stadium. A Matšo Matebele found their opener through Lazola Tjokotjokwana before Hlompho Kalake doubled the lead from the penalty spot.

Bantu are leading the pack with 28 points from nine outings. They are enjoying an eight-point gap above the defending champions Matlama.

On Saturday, Linare won their second match under caretaker coach Moses Ramafole beating Sefotha-fotha 1-0 at Maputsoe DIFA Ground.  Makhabane Mpeli was on target for Linare as he helped them move to sixth from eighth with 15 points from 11 matches.

Following a two-week sick leave, LDF were back in action on Saturday against Matlama. However, their poor run continued going down 2-0 to Matlama at Setsoto Stadium. Phafa Tšosane scored from his trademark set piece to give the defending champions an early lead. Jane Thabantšo sealed the win for Tse Putsoa from the spot.

Matlama are second on the log eight points off the pace of leaders Bantu ahead of the league break to make way for Independence Top4 tournament.
