Lioli sign two foreign players

by Lesotho Times

MASERU — Lioli Football Club have signed two international players on a three-year contract, the Lesotho Times has learnt.

According to the team’s website, www.liolifc.co.ls, the two players are Cameroonian Mekomba Robert Florission, 21, and Ossala-Okoko Nres Sorrel, 22, from the Republic of Congo.

Both players join Tse Nala from Congolese Premier League side Kotoko MFOA.

“Mekomba Robert Florission, who hails from Cameroon and Ossala-Okoko Nres Soreel from Congo, are now Lioli players,” the website says.

In an interview with the Lesotho Times on Tuesday, Lioli public relations officer, Moeketsi Pitso, said the two players started training with the team two weeks ago.

He however said they will not feature in the team’s official matches yet because their international clearances were still being sorted out.

Lioli said it hoped the duo will help them win the Vodacom Premier League title this season.

“Florisson will bolster Lioli’s midfield department and he adds a new dimension and option for Tse Nala coach Retšelisitsoe Lephaila,” the club said on the website.

Meanwhile, Likuena assistant coach Lehloholono Thotanyana has been appointed Lioli’s new technical director. “Lioli football club has hired Lehlohonolo Thotanyana as the technical director of the club. Thotanyana takes over the role with
immediate effect and he will be charged with leading and driving the development of Lioli Football Club in all technical matters,” the Lioli website said on Monday.

Thotanyana is a vastly experienced coach who has been at the helm of Lioli and the national team Likuena in the past.

His appointment could prove to be a shrewd piece of business if the Teyateyaneng giants regain their form and assert their place in Lesotho football.

Lioli are currently lying at position seven on the Vodacom Premier League log after playing five matches, winning two, losing two and drawing one.

They are set to lock horns with Joy FC tomorrow in a premier league tie.

Thotanyana, who is no newcomer to Lioli’s style of play, is the current Likuena assistant coach. He is also a Caf instructor.

“The technical director will work under the executive committee of Lioli Football Club with autonomy as far as technical matters pertain,” the team says.

“He (Thotanyana) will work with head coach Retšelisitsoe Lephaila and his assistant Thabile Secker.”
