VETERAN LDF hitman Mojela Letsie is confident he will scoop the golden boot when the curtain comes down on the 2016/17 Vodacom Premier League season on Saturday.

Mojela currently tops the goal scoring charts with 18 goals with just one round of matches to be played this weekend.

However, Linare’s Nzenze Nkulu and Thabiso Brown of Kick4Life are breathing heavily down his neck with 17 goals apiece.

Matlama striker Motebang Sera, who won the award for the 2015/6 season and walked away with M2000 for his efforts, has only managed 10 in this campaign.

Mojela this week told the Lesotho Times that although it has been a tough competition among the three, he would not relax as he had set his sights on scoring a “few more” in order to get past the 20 goal mark.

“It’s been a while since I was top goal scorer in the 2011/12 season along with former LCS striker Thabane Rankara,” Mojela said.

“Though I top of the charts, I’m not comfortable because it’s only by one goal and that means I need to score against Matlama on Saturday to win the race.”

He said the only thing he had not scored this season was a brace, adding, “it would be a happy ending if I can get two in our last match and boost my chances of walking away with the golden boot”.

Mojela, who is one of the senior players in the LDF squad, said he had to “grab the bull by its horns” and assume the responsibility of scoring for the army side.

“When the team was not performing well, it became a challenge for me to show what I can do as a senior player and score goals.

“The battle for the golden boot has not been easy because at one stage my competitors were ahead of me and that also motivated me to work even harder to win the competition,” he said.

The striker also said he was hopeful that his exploits would be rewarded with a national team call up.

“I would love to see myself back in the national team but it’s out of my hands.

“I’m always available for the national team and I will be happy to get the call up,” he said.
