THE Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) will now pay the prizes for the PostBank A Division teams after the sponsors requested for a deferment of its sponsorship on account of the Covid-19 pandemic.
LeFA information officer Mikia Kalati confirmed this week that the payments were processed last Friday.
“The payments were done last week and some teams will start receiving their money this week,” Kalati said.
Kalati said PostBank resume its commitments to sponsor the league next year. PostBank signed a three-year deal with LeFA last year.
The sponsorship deal package totals M1.2 million with M400 000 being pumped into the league annually. This is the A Division’s biggest ever sponsorship.
Before PostBank came on board last season, LeFA had been sponsoring the league.
The league was ended prematurely in July this year when LeFA resolved to end the 2019/20 season due to the Covid-19 pandemic. League action had been suspended in March this year when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out.
The decision to end the league saw CCX being declared the A Division Northern Stream champions. Manonyane were crowned the Southern Stream champions. That also saw the two teams earning premier league promotion.
Being the champions, CCX and Manonyane will pocket M50 000 each. Second placed teams from both streams will walk away with M25 000.
Third-placed teams will get M20 000, fourth-placed teams will get M17 000 while the fifth placed teams will each pocket M15 000. The sixth to 10th placed teams will each earn M14 000, M13 000, M12 000, M11 000 and M10 000 respectively.
