Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) continued with their impressive run in the new football season, edging Linare 1-0 on Saturday to go top of the 2014/15 Vodacom Premier League standings.
The win in Hlotse was LDF’s third in a row since their one-all draw against Nyenye Rovers on the opening weekend of the campaign.
LDF have now accumulated 10 points in four matches, and are one point ahead of defending champions Bantu, who have won all their three opening matches of the season.
A Matšo Matebele, as Bantu are popularly known, were ruthless last Saturday as they crushed Sundawana 5-1 at the Leshoboro stadium in Mafeteng.
Both Mokone Marabe and his young brother Litšepe, were among the goal-scorers, with the elder sibling grabbing a hat-trick to make it a perfect start for Motlatsi Shale’s side.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Mphatlatsane registered their first win of the season, narrowly beating Nyenye Rovers 1-0 in a St Monica’s derby.
Meanwhile, all the Premier League matches played on Sunday ended in a share of the spoils, save for the Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS)/Lioli clash which could not go the full distance due to crowd trouble.
LCS were leading 3-2 when violence erupted among the fans, leaving match officials with no choice but to call-off the tie deep into the second half.
In the early match at the same venue, the Maseru derby between Matlama and Likhopo had ended in a goalless draw, while it was goals galore as Kick4Life and Qoaling Highlanders played to a 3-3 draw at Lesotho High School.
Police side LMPS, who are still winless in the new season, managed to get a point away to Premier League rookies Likila United in Butha-Buthe.
