MATLAMA’S lead at the top of the Econet Premier League table has been cut to just one point following their 1-0 defeat to Bantu at Setsoto Stadium on Saturday.

Litšepe Marabe scored the only goal of the match to hand Tse Putsoa their first defeat since the beginning of the second round January.

Despite the loss to the Mafeteng outfit, Matlama remain at the top of the table with 41 points after 18 games but have LCS following closely in second with 40 points after 19 games.

The correctional services side registered a 1-0 win over LMPS on Saturday and was in action again yesterday and suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Sefotha-fotha.

Although LCS will take comfort in being just one point behind Tse Putsoa, they also have Bantu breathing down their necks in third position. The defending champions are third with 35 points after 16 games and have two games in hand against the two teams above them.

The Mafeteng outfit’s win against Matlama solidified its case in the quest for a third title in a row.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Lioli secured all the three points against struggling Linare at Maputsoe DIFA Ground. Sweetbirth Kum scored the only goal of the match to help Tse Nala leapfrog Kick4Life into fourth position.

Lehlohonolo Thotanyana’s side is fourth with 31 points after 19 games.

Linare on the other hand have been thrown into the relegation dogfight as they remain winless since the appointment of Lehlohonolo ‘Freeze’ Ntene and Moses Ramafole as new coaches in the new-year.

Tse Tala are 11th spot with 17 points after 19 games.

Meanwhile, Kick4life’s title hopes suffered a blow on Saturday as the Bob Mafoso’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Likhopo.

They have the same number of points with Lioli but Tse Nala have a better goal difference. Kick4Life is fifth with 31 points after 18 games.

Likhopo, on the other hand, ninth with 23 points after 19 games.

Liphakoe and LDF were also in action on Saturday with the two teams playing to a goalless draw in the first match at Setsoto Stadium.

The point didn’t help the two teams as both continue to slide down in the league table.

LDF, who were once in third are now sixth with 29 points after 18 games while Liphakoe have 24 points from 18 games.

Sefotha-fotha also beat Galaxy 1-0 and boosted their chanced of finishing the campaign among the teams among the top8. The Mabote outfit is now 8th on the log with 24 points after 19 games.

Galaxy on the other hand are second from bottom with 12 points and look to be on their way back to the A division having managed just one victory in 19 games.

Bottom of the table Swallows were also in action over the weekend and played to a 2-2-all draw with Majantja at LCS Ground on Saturday.

The Mazenod outfit sits at the bottom with 12 points after 19 games while Majantja are not out of trouble as they are three points ahead of the bottom two with 15 points.
