KTA-All Stars founding member Ratšolo Molupe says the club has set its eyes on the national championship in the 2019/20 season.
The 2016 champions have had it tough in the past three seasons and Molupe said this year they are banking on their experience to turn things around when the league resumes. The league is currently on a Coronavirus (COVID-19) induced break since last month.
KTA were fifth with 19 points from 13 games when the league went for the break and Molupe said they would do all they can to finish in the top four so that they can qualify for the play-offs.
“Our target is to end the season in the top-four and book a spot in the play-offs so that we can compete for the championship,” Molupe said.
“That is the most important thing for us now.”
“We stumbled in our first round and registered two unnecessary loses against Bokamoso South and a forfeit against Limkokwing University.
“We went on to lose to Shooting Rifles and Bokamoso Alumni but the first two losses, which were against smaller teams, affected us. The losses are still haunting us and this is why we are still outside the top four.”
He however, said they still fancy their chances as they are one of the most experienced sides while they also have good players.
“We just need to win against Bokamoso South and Fokothi because these are the other two teams that we are competing with for the spot.
“We have a strong team and all the components that can help us win the championship and regain our glory. We just need to qualify for the play-offs,” Molupe said.
In recent seasons the team has been inconsistent and Molupe attributes that to player transfers.
“There were many changes in our team in the past three seasons hence we struggled. However, this season we have been stable and I think we will do well. Player departures have made us inconsistent but that has improved this season. The fact that we are the reigning Summerslam champions indicates that we still what it takes to be at the top.”
Molupe said the break was also helpful for the team as it gave their players time to recover from injuries so much that they would be ready for action when the action resumes.
