Hip hop star to set Litaleng alight

MASERU — South African hip hop artist Khuli Chana is set to breathe life into Maseru’s nightlife when he performs at Litaleng Leisure Club tomorrow.

Chana is a member of a hip hop group Mofare and has one album, The Motswako Originator, under his belt.

This is the first big event that Litaleng is bringing this year.

Moruti Pitso, one of the organisers of the show, told the Weekender they decided to let merrymakers recover from the festive season’s financial tornado before blowing the event calendar with a hit event.

“This is the first event we are staging this year and we are confident it will add a spark to the event calendars.

“We brought Liquid Deep last year and this year we are bringing the young, fresh, vibrant and new in the market, Khuli Chana.

“He will be performing some of his tracks but fans should expect hit songs Box Fresh, Konka and No More Hunger,” Pitso said.

Chana will perform along local hip hop aspiring artistes.

“We have two growing hip hop artistes, Qekha and Minister Po in the line-up to promote on the night,” Pitso said.

“Chana is a Motswana vernacular rapper who mixes street-talk, Setswana, English and other South African languages,” Pitso said.

“He is a hip hop artist, the kind of an artiste we would be likely to feature more at Litaleng because we are about promoting hip hop.”

Pitso however said the night will have a line-up of local DJs to add diversity to the event.

“We have DJ Angca as the star hip hop jockey to blaze hip hop tunes along Max Mora, while the likes of DJ Tseko, Karma K, Hypnotic Soulz and Mekonko will play a mixture of house and kwaito to add flavour,” he said.
