A 30-YEAR-OLD Quthing man, Mokete Ntšioa, will reappear in court on Monday after he allegedly attempted to rape a woman after assisting her in opening the door of her house.

Police deputy spokesperson, Senior Inspector Lerato Motseki, said it was reported on 8 August the suspect found the woman searching for the keys to her house at around 7pm.

Upon realising the key might have been misplaced, the woman asked the suspect to enter her house through a window and collect a spare key.

“It is suspected the man agreed to the request, and after opening the door for the victim, he demanded sex. After a long scuffle, the woman asked to be excused saying she wanted to relieve herself.

“Immediately after getting out of the house, the woman called out for help to neighbours. The man then allegedly ran away and community policing officials caught him, arrested and handed him over to Dilli Dilli police,” she said, congratulating community policing members for not taking the law into their own hands.

Meanwhile, Senior Inspector Motseki said a 35-year-old Tšepiso Lefa from Mohale’s Hoek was remanded in custody after he allegedly murdered a man from the same district.

“It is suspected that Tšepiso Lefa and other suspects ambushed the deceased as he was walking and started beating him up. They castrated him, gouged out his eyes and cut out his throat leaving him to die,” she said, adding the suspect will reappear in court soon.
