MASERU – Four Maseru men appeared in the magistrates’ court on Monday facing charges of armed robbery.
The prosecution alleged that Liteboho Nchephe, Lehlohonolo Marole, Monyane Molibeli and Khalala Lerotholi robbed Pin Chen, a Chinese citizen, of M30 000 at gunpoint.
“The accused threatened the complainant saying if he did not allow them to take away the money they would shoot him,” read the charge sheet.
The four did not have a legal representative when they appeared in court.
Magistrate Molemo Monethi told the four that were entitled to legal representation and had a right to apply for bail.
He however told them that the court did not have the powers to hear bail applications.
“Therefore I will send you to prison until you have applied for bail before the High Court,” said Monethi.
The accused also appeared before the same court on charges of motor vehicle theft.
