MASERU — Former Likuena star Lebajoa Mphongoa has joined Nyenye Rovers as coach.
The 35-year-old Mphongoa, who was last on the books of South African first division side African Wanderers, hung his boots in November.
He joined the Maputsoe outfit’s technical staff last week.
The development was confirmed by Nyenye Rovers’ public relations officer Thabiso Jomane.
“After we played LDF (on January 16) we approached him to join our team,” Jomane told the Lesotho Times.
“As a team we are very pleased because of the experience and knowledge he will bring to our side.”
Jomane said Nyenye Rovers had initially wanted Mphongoa to join them as a player but failed to entice him out of retirement.
The Hlotse-born forward played for LDF before he signed with South African Premier League outfit Bloemfontein Celtic in 1998.
Meanwhile, Nyenye Rovers have also completed the signing of goalkeeper Sello Thejane from First Division side Lifefo on a free transfer.
Thejane will vie for the number one jersey with Baholo Sefatsa.
