A 50-YEAR-OLD man was found dead on a farm in Sehlabeng sa Thuathe on Sunday morning. According to the District Commissioner of Maseru Urban Police, Senior Superintendent Mofokeng Kolo, the body of Tseko Macheli was found in the open near the farmhouse he shared with two colleagues.
Senior Superintendent Kolo said the two colleagues are now helping the police with their investigations, after Macheli, who was the farm manager, was found with bruises all over his body.
“The police received a report of the man’s death at around 10am on Sunday. Our officers found him lying in the open yard, not very far from the farmhouse he lived in.
“The man had open wounds on the face and bruises all over his body, which we suspect could have led to his death,” Senior Superintendent Kolo said.
He further said preliminary investigations had indicated that the man was severely assaulted, before passing out as he crawled away.
“There was a trail of blood from the farmhouse to where the corpse was found lying in the open,” Senior Superintendent Kolo said.
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent Kolo said the police had arrested two men in connection with the suspected murder.
“The two suspects were colleagues of the now-deceased, and they lived together on the same farm,” Senior Superintendent Kolo said.
The owner of the farm, Retired Major General Metsing Lekhanya, said Macheli’s sudden death had left him devastated.
“He was the farm manager and had been with us for a very long time. His death has left us devastated and hopefully, the culprits will soon be brought to book.”
