MASERU – Econet Telecom Lesotho re-launched its Econet Broadband internet system last Wednesday in Maseru.

Econet Broadband is an advanced internet network that uses latest technology.

Econet Telecom’s chief executive officer Elvis Gwanzura says the broadband service will  ensure improved and easy access to internet.

He said this contributes to economic growth because people can easily interact.

“Broadband is a lever for economic growth,” Gwanzura said during the re-launch event on Wednesday night. “It helps people to interact easily because the way people interact has changed.”

“Broadband has changed the level of people interacting,” Gwanzura said.

“For a child this means access to education, for a doctor it means a first-class, sophisticated practice, a student can enjoy distance learning, and you, your family and friends will never miss a moment anywhere in the world,” Gwanzura said.

Gwanzura said the company had tailor-made the broadband services for three different market segments.

The “On the Go” package is a mobile broadband service that allows access to internet on the handheld device such as a cell-phone or laptop.

The “At Home” package relates to internet accessibility when one is at home. It’s specifically designed for families.

The “At Work” package is the internet connection that caters for business.

Econet Telecom Lesotho’s public relations manager Mpine Tente said the Econet Broadband is an advanced network system that uses the latest technology.
