ECONET Telecom Lesotho has renewed its sponsorship deal with the Federation of Lesotho Rugby (FLR) injecting M100 000 to sponsor the rugby league.
Both parties have already signed the new sponsorship for the Econet Rugby League deal which is one-year-long.
Econet public relations manager Puleng Masoabi this week said they saw it fit to renew the sponsorship after the lapsing of the previous contract.
“We have renewed our sponsorship for the Econet Rugby League and we have signed a one-year deal with the FLR,” Masoabi.
Apart from the league sponsorship, Masoabi said they have also given the association a separate M48 000 to run its developmental activities and administration.
“We have been supporting rugby for a long time and every month we give the federation M4000 for administration. This makes it easy for the federation to visit schools for rugby development.
“We are proud of the rapid growth of rugby and we will be happy to see our national teams competing at bigger international stages in future.
“The company is doing all it can to contribute significantly to the general growth of Lesotho sports. We are also sponsoring Lesotho Institutions Sports Associations (LISA) activities because our main focus is investing in development.”
Econet is also sponsoring national rugby teams.
FLR secretary general, Litšitšo Motšeremeli said they were grateful for Econet’s partnership.
“We want to thank Econet for what they have been doing for rugby and seeing potential in the sport. They have been with us for nine years.
“If we continue getting this kind of sponsorship, it means we are on the right track and the sport is growing. We feel special having Econet as our sponsor,” Motšeremeli said.
