ECONET Telecom Lesotho (ETL) yesterday handed over a M150 000 prize to the biggest winner so far of the Matsebetsebe Cash Explosion competition in a colourful ceremony held at the company’s headquarters.

‘Maputsoa Rapeane from Sekamaneng in Berea was the first monthly car winner of the competition during a draw held on 29 July 2016 in Butha-Buthe. The Toyota Etios prize had an option of being exchanged for M150 000 cash which the mother of three opted for.

Accompanied by family and friends, a jubilant Ms Rapeane said she planned to use the money towards constructing a family home.

“Econet has truly transformed my life with this money which I plan to use towards building a house of my own. I am so grateful for this opportunity and urge Basotho to enter the competition and also to continue supporting Econet,” she said.

Asked how often she participated in the competition, Ms Rapeane said she was a regular player in the trivia-based competition after getting hooked because of its interesting questions.

In her remarks, ETL Marketing Manager ‘Maphunye Putsoa said monthly car winners were given the privilege to choose products that would benefit them in their lives.

“For the monthly draw, where a customer could win a car like what happened to Mme Rapeane, the winner is given the choice of taking a car or cash prize,” she said.

“We don’t want to force our subscribers to end up with prizes that don’t meet them at their point of need. So, in Mme Rapeane’s case, we allowed her to make the exchange.”

Ms Putsoa said subscribers could enter the competition through texting the word ‘Econet’ to 65100. She said the promotion was open to all ETL prepaid and contract subscribers.
