THE Easter holiday is awash with a lot of activities, with revellers spoilt for choice with the many events lined up.
Ranging from music to adventure, the events cater for various ages and tastes. Below is your gig guide for the long weekend…
THURSDAY
Maseru Touch Down
Kicking off the festivities will be the Maseru Touch Down at the city centre-based Cuban Linx. The event is meant to welcome people from the diaspora upon their arrival for the Easter holiday. The musical line-up includes South African DJ PH alongside local acts such as Trybz, Smooth, Katz, Konsept, Da Starr, AfroDJ and Mekonko.
FRIDAY
Maseru Easter Festival
A star-studded line-up of foreign and local artists is set to perform at Maseru Club grounds in a musical show dubbed Maseru Easter Festival. Organised by Rock the City Entertainment, the event will feature performances from Malawi’s Gemini Major, South Africa’s Black Motion, Nadia Nakai, Naaq Musiq, DJ SK, DJ Mlungu, Sdudlanoma100, DJ Micks and Tuks Senganga. The local contingent will include DJ Vesta, Zagro DJs, DJ Monyase, Deepee, J-Cob, Afro DJ, Juvy, Kot Inferno, Sir Nic, Mega Hertz, 3RD Code, Lady Dee, Kta Kings and the emcee Mavele.
Maluti Mayhem
Afri Ski Mountain Resort in Mahlasela, Butha-Buthe will host a four-day adventurous weekend. The event will feature activities such as mountain bike riding and hiking at the 3 222m above sea level resort. A number of kids’ activities are also lined up at the resort.
Family Easter Egg Hunt
Maseru Mall will host an Easter egg hunt contest for families with cash prizes and shopping vouchers in store for the winners. A participating team would consist of either one adult and a child, one adult and two children, two adults and two children, one adult and three children, one adult and four children or two adults and the children. Registration is free and held from 8am to 10am when the egg hunt begins.
Easter VIP Experience
Lioness Events, in partnership with 101 Lounge, will host an event geared towards giving patrons the VIP treatment at 101 Lounge situated in the Maseru Mall’s Bhaduza Park compound. Various VIP food and beverages packages designed for groups of four will be on offer.
South African singer Kelly Khumalo and Lesotho-born actress Liopelo Maphathe are expected to grace the event.
SATURDAY
Face of Lesotho
Seventeen beauty queens will strut their stuff in a battle for the prestigious Face of Lesotho title. The winner will land the opportunity to represent Lesotho at the Face of Beauty International which will be held in India in September this year. She will also walk away with M5 000 cash with the two runners-up getting M3 000 and M2 000 respectively.
Easter Bonnet Lesotho
A kids’ fun-day will be held at Maseru Central Park catering for four to 12-year olds. Activities lined up for the day include an Easter egg hunt, playing on jumping castles, dancing, face painting and a raffle to win various prizes. Entertainment will be provided by DJ T-Spoon and Vodacom Dancers.
Coco Cabana Easter Special
The Easter edition of the popular lifestyle picnic organized by Coco Cabana Lesotho will be held at Phomolo Guest House in Ha Matala. It will see performances from local disc spinners such as Trybz, DJ Lobby, Afro DJ, NINE24 and BoxFr3sh.
SUNDAY
SPAA Mass Concert
The choral division of the multi-award winning Serumula Performing Arts Academy (SPAA) will serenade music lovers at Victory Hall in Moshoeshoe II. The choral outfit will perform two coronation masses prepared by WA Mozart, being Missa Brevis in C Major KV 259 (Organ Solo Missa Brevis) and Missa Solemnis in C Major KV 317.
