POLICE have warned the public to desist from giving their personal banking details and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards to other people.

The warning comes after police arrested two men working for a Mohale’s Hoek loan shark for allegedly stealing 250 ATM cards belonging to their employer’s debtors.

Addressing a media briefing this week, police spokesperson Superintendent Clifford Molefe, said the duo allegedly used the ATM cards to withdraw M30 000.

“Seabata Seetsa (28) and Bokang Senoko (27) appeared in court on 28 September facing house robbery charges. They were each granted M1 000 bail which they paid,” Supt Molefe said, adding the duo would reappear in court next Wednesday.

He said on their arrest, the suspects were found in possession of M22 250 and 29 ATM cards.

“The loan shark in question immediately fired them. People know very well that their ATM cards belong to them and them alone and as per the commercial bank regulations. They are not even allowed to give them to their spouses,” Supt Molefe said.
