SOUTH African artist, Dr Malinga, paid tribute to the prowess of local Afro Jazz maestro at the Ultimate FM Music awards held at Thaba-Bosiu Cultural Village on Saturday.
Dr Malinga, who performed soon after Bhudaza’s act, was awestruck by the Hlotse-based artist’s saxophone and vocal skills as the latter belted his trademark tunes.
Upon mounting the stage as the headline act, Dr Malinga said he couldn’t get enough of Bhudhaza’s performance which has put Lesotho’s music on the map in the southern African region.
“Bhudaza, you are very talented my brother and I have been captivated by your performance,” Dr Malinga said.
“When I was seated in the tent, I could not resist the harmonic melody that came from your saxophone as well as your mesmerising vocals which compelled me to move to the front of the stage so I can have an uninterrupted view.”
Dr Malinga then proposed a collaboration with the Babalas hit-maker, saying, “I envision your exclusive sound merging with Malinga’s music”, to which Bhudaza responded with a smile and wave.
After hailing Bhudaza, the “karate kid” of South African music whipped the crowd into a frenzy with his energetic performance.
