SOUTH African, DJ PH will headline the second edition of the Maseru Touchdown at Cuban Linx on April 14.
Maseru Touch Down is an initiative of Cuban Linx in partnership with South African-based disc spinner and promoter, Individual Max aimed at welcoming back Basotho living outside the country through music and entertainment.
The Easter event is the second after the inaugural edition last December.
Cuban Linx co-owner, Raohang Lehobo said the event was aimed at making the “diasporans” feel at home.
“There are hordes of Basotho living outside the country who often come home during holidays so we designed this show in December 2016,” Lehobo said, adding, “The idea is for them to be part of the community as there is nothing that brings people together better than sharing drinks while jamming to good music”.
“The turnout was great last year as those that live in the country came to meet and greet their brethren, and we could also judge that from our sales which were also good.
“The plan is to host this event twice every year in Easter and December.”
5FM’s DJ PH is known for his versatility and impressive energetic stage presence.
He was well received in all his several appearances in the country last year and this time he will share the stage with local acts such as Smooth, Katz, Trybz, Konsept, Da Starr, Mekonko, NINE24 and Afro DJ.
Lehobo said that they had settled for DJ PH because he had proved to be popular with local audiences.
“The reason we always invite foreign acts to our shows is that Basotho do not support their own talent therefore having just a local lineup would result in a huge loss to any event organiser,” Lehobo said.
