ASPIRING scholars have until Saturday to apply for the prestigious Moshoeshoe I Scholarship offered under Econet’s HigherLife Foundation.

This scholarship, now in its third cohort, seeks to identify and support academically gifted students who have completed their Lesotho General Certificate of Secondary Education (LGCSE) exams and are below the age of 21.

The Moshoeshoe I Scholarship targets students who wish to pursue higher education in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) at universities in Lesotho, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. Applicants must not only excel academically but also demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and a commitment to community service.

Econet’s General Manager of Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience, ‘Mapusetso Ntšekhe, emphasized the significance of this scholarship, urging scholars to apply before the 8 June2024 deadline.

“We are looking for young minds that are not just academically talented but also exhibit strong leadership qualities and a dedication to giving back to their communities. These are the future leaders who will drive innovation and development in our region,” Ms Ntšekhe said.

“The Moshoeshoe I Scholarship is a beacon of hope for many young students aspiring to make a significant impact in the STEM fields. By providing financial support and access to top universities in the region, the scholarship aims to cultivate a new generation of professionals who will contribute to the scientific and technological advancement of Africa,” she added.

“This initiative is more than just financial aid; it’s an investment in the future of our youth and our nation. We believe that by empowering these young leaders, we are fostering a culture of excellence and innovation that will benefit our communities for years to come.

“Students who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to submit their applications promptly to avoid missing this life-changing opportunity. The application process is straightforward, but the competition is intense, given the high standards and the limited number of scholarships available.

“As the deadline approaches, potential applicants are reminded of the importance of showcasing not just their academic prowess, but also their leadership experiences and community involvement. The Moshoeshoe I Scholarship stands as a testament to Econet Telecom Lesotho’s commitment to nurturing the potential within the youth and supporting their educational aspirations.

“Hurry and apply now to be a part of the transformative journey with the Moshoeshoe I Scholarship. The future of Africa’s STEM fields could begin with you.”
