Darts finals set for Sunday

MASERU – The Lesotho Darts Association (LDA) will host its Top 8 finals on Sunday at Midway in Lithabaneng, about 10 km south of the city centre.

The finals will see eight teams, including winners from Saturday’s matches involving Cool Sites, Mashai (both from Thaba-Tseka), BMI (Teyateyaneng) and HMM (Mohale’s Hoek).

Lesotho Defence Force, Moshoeshoe I International Airport and Maseru City Council (Zone A) and Tigers, Mali and Econet Telecom Lesotho (Zone B) are already confirmed for the finals.

The Top 8 finals are financed from the teams’ registration fees which are collected at the beginning of the league in January.

The LDA will also use these finals to prepare Zone IV darts competitions that are likely to be held in Lesotho in August this year.

LDA general secretary Popa Shamatle confirmed the developments with the Lesotho Times on Tuesday.

“There will be eight teams that will be competing at the LDA league Top 8 finals on Sunday in Lithabaneng at Ntate Seakhoa’s place (Midway),” Shamatle said.

“These eight teams that will be competing to become this year’s champs have shown excellent performances since the beginning of the league.

“There will be prize monies presented after the competitions on Sunday.

“These finals are self-sponsored in a way.”

Shamatle said the finals were in preparation for the Zone IV darts competitions that are likely to be held in Lesotho in August.

“We are also preparing ourselves for the Zone IV competitions and we are only waiting for a go-ahead from the sports ministry to host them,” he said.
