QWAQWA – The Tabola Primary School athletics team received an early Christmas present after it won the 2010 Qwaqwa Cross-Country Development Races last Saturday.
The school walked away with a R500 shopping voucher, a certificate and floating trophy after they were named the 2010 overall winners.
Other schools that took part in the competition were Lebohang Primary, Kgotsong Intermediate, Sebabatso Intermediate, Mohato Secondary, Tseki High, Lerato Primary, Mmathabo Secondary, Letlotlo Primary, Qholaqhoe Intermediate, Rantsane Secondary, Mafube Intermediate and Maluti FET College.
The competition also saw several athletics clubs participating.
Arnold Motsoeneng, a QwaQwa athletics officer, said Tabola Primary School deserved to win the competition.
“The cross-country development races surely help young people to identify talent and also prepares the emerging runners to prepare for marathons,” Motsoeneng said.
Motsoeneng said they were going to extend it to Maluti-a-Phoufng municipality next year.
Other schools which managed to make the top 10 were Kgotsong Intermediate, Lebohang Primary, Lerato Primary, Masiasiane Athletics Club, Setsing SuperSpar Ladies Team, Leratong Children’s Home, Tseki High, Sebabatso Intermediate and Letlotlo Primary.
