Big win for Lifofane
RELEGATION threatened Lifofane registered a shock 1-0 win over defending league champions, Bantu, on Sunday to increase their chances of surviving the chop.
Lifofane endured a bad start to the season and have been flirting with danger shuttling between 15th and 16th place on the table.
The win saw Lifofane move three points above 15th placed Swallows (10 points). However, Swallows have played one game less than Lifofane (18). Karabo Mofokeng was on target for Lifofane.
On the other hand, Bantu lost an opportunity to overtake Matlama and reclaim their pole position and remained second with 37 points, one off the leaders’ pace.
On Saturday, LCS ran riot thumping youth studded Likhopo 6-0 at LCS Ground.
Makara Ntaitsana and Keketso Snyders each scored a brace with other goals coming from Thetso Posholi and Kopano Tseka. The correctional service outfit remains fourth with 27 points. Likhopo are 13th with 15 points from 17 matches.
The Matlama vs Kick4Life and the Swallows vs Lijabatho matches were postponed as both Matlama and Swallows players had been in contact with Linare players who tested positive for Covid-19.
On Sunday, Sello Sekike scored a late equaliser to cancel Teboho Lebitsa’s goal as both Manonyane and Sefotha-fotha settled for a one-all draw in Nyakosoba.
Manonyane are 10th with 20 points while Sefotha-fotha remain at the bottom of the table with six points.
Liphakoe also held Lioli to a goalless draw at LCS Ground. This was Liphakoe’s second successive draw after holding Bantu 1-1 in the midweek.
Liphakoe are ninth with 20 points while Lioli maintained their third spot with 30 points.
The ties between LMPS and CCX and the one pitying Linare vs LDF were all postponed.
