Defending champions Bantu outplayed Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) 3-1 on Sunday at Leshoboro Stadium in Mafeteng to go top of the 14-team Vodacom Premier League standings.

The army-side had been leading the table for the past two months until Sunday’s loss to a rampant A Matšo Matebele side spurred on by a vociferous home crowd.

The weekend loss was only LDF’s second of the 2014/15 season, and meant they remained on 20 points—one behind Bantu who now have 21 points after 10, while the soldiers have played 11 games. Teyateyaneng-based Lioli are in third place on 19 points after eight matches.

Bantu’s Litšepe Marabe netted his seventh and eighth goals of the campaign to continue with his fine scoring form since returning to domestic football from South African First Division outfit United FC, while Mokoenanyane Moahloli got the consolation goal for LDF.

The talented forward returned to Lesotho after spending the whole of last season without playing an official game at United due to complications with his registration.

Meanwhile, Nyenye Rovers and Qoaling Highlanders played to a goalless draw in St Monica’s last Saturday.

The single point helped Highlanders move one place from the bottom of the table while Rovers now occupy 11th position after stunning Bantu 1-0 at the same venue the previous weekend.

League rookies Kick4Life continued with their impressive run on Saturday at Old Europa Ground, beating struggling LMPS 2-0 to move to position five on the log.

Young striker Thabiso Brown also continued with his rich vein of form as he scored his 6th goal of the campaign and is now two goals behind the league’s top-scorer, Marabe.

On the other hand, the match between LCS and Mphatlatsane failed to take place on Sunday due to a waterlogged pitch following heavy rains which pounded Maseru almost the entire day.
