MASERU – Makoanyane XI on Tuesday received a shot in the arm from Avis Fleet Services ahead of the Caf Under-20 Youth Championships in South Africa.
The team, which will compete in the eight-nation tournament, received a second-hand Quantum vehicle from Avis Fleet Services.
Handing over the 14-seater vehicle, Avis Fleet Services chief executive officer Clive Else said this was a token of appreciation to the community.
“This is a token of appreciation to the government of Lesotho and its people for supporting Avis Fleet Services for the past years,” Else said.
He said it is now the right time to plough back to the community by supporting both the Lesotho Football Association (Lefa) and Makoanyane XI.
“We are now giving back to the community that we are serving.”
Lefa public relations officer Baba Malephane said the vehicle will assist them in their football development programmes
“The vehicle has come at a time we are developing football in the country. It will enable us to reach the remotest places to scout talent,” he said.
The donation had sealed the long-term relationship between the two bodies. “This (handing over of the vehicle) may be happening because of the long-term relationship we have with Avis,” Malephane said.
“They have been providing us with transport whenever we have international games,” he said.
