MASERU –– Matlama have a tough job on their hands if they plan to hold on to their star defender, Nkau Lerotholi.
The Lesotho international has been heavily linked with a move away from Pitso Ground all winter with Lioli very public in their pursuit of the 18-year-old.
However Lerotholi, a product of Matlama’s youth sides, has been quiet about his future out of respect for his childhood club. But it seems, with the transfer window coming to a close, he will leave the club.
“There are many things that make me want to leave and I think this is time for me to move on,” Lerotholi told the Lesotho Times this week.
Lerotholi’s fine performances for Tse Putsoa last year saw him attract the interest of South African first division outfit African Warriors and champions Lioli. And speaking to the Lesotho Times Matlama coach Ntebele Taole admitted it would be hard to keep the player.
“The last committee let him down. He has been looking for a job for a long time and they haven’t helped him and I understand how he feels. If the club could help him then that would be great but also if he finds what he wants elsewhere then I can’t stand in his way,” Taole said on Tuesday.
The side being mentioned are LCS.
Masheshena were interested in the player last season but missed out on his signature. Last year LCS had a porous defence and Lerotholi would no doubt be a positive addition if he were to team up with international teammate Mpitsa Marai.
While LCS coach Katiso Mojakhomo has frequently said he will not sign any more players, the availability of the highly rated player could tempt him to make a move.
