MASERU — Lioli Football club has received sponsorship worth a staggering M1.2 million from Alliance Insurance.
This is the first and biggest team sponsorship deal in the history of local football.
Alliance Insurance will sponsor Lioli with Umbro kits worth to M300 000 per year for the next four years.
The kits will include equipment and sportswear for players and team managers.
The attire will also be branded with the Alliance Insurance logo. One condition of the sponsorship stipulates that Lioli players and team managers will not wear any sportswear brand other than Umbro for the next four years.
Lioli management will choose a new design for the team each year.
Lioli communication and marketing manager Moeketsi Pitso confirmed the developments to the Lesotho Times on Tuesday.
“I am proud to tell you that Lioli has received M300 000 sponsorship from Alliance Insurance,” Pitso.
Pitso said the team was planning to open a Lioli sports shop, which will only sell Umbro apparel to its supporters as well as the general public.
