THE Federation of Handball Lesotho Secretary General, Tsotang Pela, says they are hoping for the best from their two teams which are representing the country at the ongoing International Handball Federation (IFH) Zone VI tournament in Lusaka Zambia.
The tournament started on Monday and will end on Saturday.
Pela said this year they are only having women’s games and they have sent two teams namely the under-18 and the under-20. The males’ only tournament was held last year.
He said the squad was selected in March through the mini tournaments they have been staging.
“The selection was done in March through the mini tournaments from different districts,” Pela said.
“The games are for IFH challenge Trophy Zone VI which is an annual tournament for both men and women teams with two categories being youth under-18 and juniors under-20.
“This year is for women while last year was for men meaning next year 2020 will be for men again.”
Pela however, said the challenge is that their teams had poor preparations due to lack of funds but said they are hopeful that they will rise to the occasion.
“We had planned to hold a camp in May but we failed due to the government’s financial problems. So, the teams did not really prepare well. It is difficult we know but we are hoping for the best from the players and we also hope that they will rise to the occasion,” he said.
The team coaches are Makoekoe Mahanetsa, Litseo Tsotetsi, Jobo Pulumo and Mabokang Mdandalaza
