QUTHING – A 63-year-old woman, ‘Matholang Khiba, appeared in court last week to answer charges of violating the Sexual Offences Act of 2003.

Khiba, from Ts’oeneng in Masetise in Quthing, is accused of sexually assaulting her 89-year-old mother last Friday.

According to the charge sheet, Khiba inserted her finger into her mother’s private parts following a row over M10.

The crown alleges that Khiba assaulted her mother saying the M10 she was giving her for personal expenses was not enough.

She allegedly complained that her mother, who receives a M200 government pension for the elderly, was being stingy in giving her just M10.

The charge sheet says the victim tried to explain that she did not have enough money as she needed all the cash to buy the family’s food.

Khiba rejected the explanation and assaulted her mother. Villagers intervened and reported the matter to the police.

Khiba was remanded out of custody. – Lena
