THE Global Business Roundtable (GBR) will on 7 September this year host Lesotho’s first Women of Character Summit at ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre in Maseru.
First held in Johannesburg in 2015 followed by Zimbabwe in 2016, the Women of Character Summit is a networking platform which is also meant to inspire women in various spheres of life. This year’s edition would be held under the theme Arise and Shine.
GBR is a Non-Profit Organisation which comprises of global leaders from a variety of sectors, backgrounds and expertise.
Global Business Roundtable member, Philile Nchonco told the Lesotho Times that the event would focus on achieving economic growth through women empowerment.
“The Global Business Roundtable event will focus on achieving economic growth through the empowerment of women Ms Nchonco said.
She said the event would feature a powerful line-up of speakers comprising of delegates from all over the world. She said they would network to build relations and facilitate opportunities to enable women to make a difference in their respective societies.
Ms Nchonco said the GBR lobal Business Roundtable has a diverse membership drawn from all sectors of the society.
“The GBR began with 12 people in August 2009 and has now grown to a membership of over 30 000 members across the world including in countries like South Africa, USA, Spain, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Mozambique.
“More than 1000 Women from across the globe are expected to attend this conference,” she said.
She said this year’s summit seeks to help women realise their inner strength to rise above any type of storm and live victorious, purpose-driven and fulfilling lives.
Ms Nchonco said the programme features three plenary sessions and a keynote address by Her Majesty Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Bereng Seeiso.
“The first session focuses on achieving inclusive growth for economic empowerment. The delegates will also be addressed by the Honourable Minister of Gender, Youth, Sports and Recreation, Mahali Phamotse.”
She said they will be joined by the Free State Treasury Member of the Executive Council (MEC) of Treasury to discuss Women in Politics and Public Office and business woman Lebogang Motsane, who brings in the voice of women in business.
The second plenary session entitled “Women, trade and investment” will feature women such as the founder of Inspire Innovation Business Consultants, Likeleli Monyamane, who will talk about effectively using income streams.
“There will also be Petronella Chigara Didima from Zimbabwe, who will look at building strategic relationships in business while Helena Roets from Netherlands will discuss opportunities in agriculture. The final session will look at education, personal and spiritual development,” Ms Nchonco said.
She said after a full day of discussions, the summit would end with a Global Business Roundtable Women of Character Gospel Concert featuring artistes like Judith Sephuma and Lebo Sekgobela along with the FTG Men’s Worship Team, Mookho Moqhali, GBR Worship Team, Kingdom Classics and Philile Chonco.
