THABA-Tseka Ladies and Limkokwing University of Creative Technology were on Sunday promoted to the Women Super League (WSL) for the 2019/20 season.
The two-teams came tops in their respective five team mini league on Saturday and Sunday at Mohale’s Hoek DIFA Ground and Maputsoe DIFA Ground.
Thaba-Tseka won in the North stream with 12 points while Limkokwing won in the South stream with 10 points.
Limkokwing represented the Maseru district and beat Quthing, Mohale’s Hoek and Qacha’s Nek but were held to a goalless draw by Mafeteng.
On the other hand, Thaba-Tseka won all their four matches against Berea, Leribe, Mokhotlong and Butha-Buthe.
Limkokwing will be the second tertiary institution to gain promotion into the league after National University of Lesotho’s Rovers.
Women Super League Management Committee (WSLMC) chairperson Chris Bullock the addition of two teams is according to their four-year strategic plan of improving local women’s football.
“We have added another two teams in our league, meaning we are now going to have a league of 10 teams,” Bullock said.
The Lesotho Times has also been reliably informed that the 2019/20 season will kick-off in September 2019 and in preparation of the registration for the new season, the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) will be hosting a club licencing workshop for the women teams.
LDF Ladies defended their title going unbeaten all season without conceding.
