LIOLI went 1-0 down to Bantu last Saturday in an epic Econet Premier League clash to miss out on a top four finish for the first time in six seasons.

As the league heads towards the last matches this weekend, Tse Nala are fifth with 36 points trailing, five points behind fourth placed LDF.

Lazola Tjokotjokwana was on target for Bantu on Saturday keeping Bantu in the chase for the title closely following Matlama as the league race goes to the wire this weekend.

Bantu will be playing Sefotha-fotha in their last league match at PTC ground this Saturday and they will be hoping to collect maximum points. They will also be hoping that Matlama lose to Linare at Setsoto Stadium in their last match.

Relegation threatened Swallows were also in action on Saturday and surprised Liphakoe with a 2-1 beating in Quthing.

The win saw the bottom placed Swallows boosting their chances of surviving the chop. They moved to 17 and are now a point behind Majantja and two points behind Galaxy.

The loss for Liphakoe saw them failing to cement their spot into the top eight with a match to spare. While for now they remain eighth with 30 points, they are just a point ahead of ninth-placed Sefotha-fotha.

LDF continued with their fine run coming from behind twice to bag a 3-2 win over Kick4Life at Ratjomose Ground. The win confirmed their place in the top four.

To wrap up Saturday matches, LMPS and Majantja played to a one-all stalemate at PTC Ground.

The result didn’t mean much for struggling Majantja who are still stuck in the relegation zone.

On Sunday Matlama had to pull out all strings to beat Sefotha-fotha 2-0 and collect maximum points to go back into the top of the table.

It was a match of two halves with the Mabote outfit all over Matlama in the first half. But Matlama proved why they are still at the summit of the log in the second half producing a good performance that saw them bagging two goals from Jane Thabantšo and Bushy Moletsane.

Linare were also in a rampart mood destroying Likhopo’s hopes of qualifying for the LNIG Top8 next season trouncing them 3-0 at Maputsoe DIFA Ground.

LCS added on to Galaxy woes beating them 2-0 at LCS Ground. The win for Mpitsa Marai’s side means that Galaxy are still in the relegation zone and will be playing for nothing less than three points in their last match against LMPS in Maputsoe.
