MASERU — A prostitute who stoned a police vehicle in a fit of rage will spend the next two months in prison after she was found guilty of malicious damage to property.
Lahluoe Makoko, 29, who is from St Michael’s, was however given an option to serve 40 hours of community service.
Makoko stoned the police vehicle at Lakeside in Maseru last Thursday.
She was charged together with two other accomplices, Nthabiseng Tsutsulupa, 28, and Tiisetso Nkabi, 24.
Tsutsulupa and Nkabi were however acquitted due to lack of evidence.
Makoko was involved in a fracas with some unidentified boys from the village who had insulted her for being a prostitute.
In retaliation Makoko threw stones at the boys shattering a window on the police vehicle.
Clad in a blue jacket Makoko pleaded guilty to the charge.
“I’m going to give you a lenient sentence because you did not waste court’s time by refusing your criminal act,” Court President Liabo Masupha said while sentencing Makoko.
Tsutsulupa and Nkabi told the court that they charged between M30 and M45 per session. For all night services, they said they charged M150.
Public prosecutor, Puleng Mapitse, said the accused was a first offender.
