MOS TECH students hold the tablets they received from Vodacom on Tuesday.

MOS TECH College, in partnership with Vodacom Lesotho, has equipped 75 of the institute’s students with tablets laden with educational material and airtime to enhance their learning experience.
The tablets, handed over to the students at Victory Restaurant in Maseru on Tuesday, contain learning material and will also receive Vodacom airtime on a monthly basis.
According to the college’s consultant, Rajase Mnyele, MOS TECH was established in 1996 as a health and safety training institute. However, the institute added accounting and cookery subjects early this year.
“The college was formed following the realisation that a lot of Basotho had gone abroad seeking better education,” Mr Mnyele said.
“So we decided to bring the quality education they seek to their doorstep.”
He added that MOS TECH was blazing a trail as far as e-learning was concerned in the country to ensure students are equipped with all the tools they need for learning.
Speaking at the same event, Vodacom Enterprise and Consumer Business Unit Manager Teboho Thabisi said they partnered with the college as part of their community building strategy.
He said the college had considered expensive options from South Africa before Vodacom offered to offer the service “at a much lower cost”.
“Vodacom is a technology company which associates its business with community building strategies, especially those that use technology,” Mr Thabisi said.
“So we fell in love with their e-learning vision and entered into this contract. Our relationship with them will go beyond tablets as we intend to be their one-stop communication shop and assist them with ideas that will simplify their learning.”
