4Fordy which is situated at the DLM Complex in Maseru will host a party to celebrate DJ Lyn’s 21st birthday as part of the club’s Red Weekend event on Saturday.

The 4Fordy Red Weekend to commemorate Valentine’s Day, will run from today till Valentine’s Day next Tuesday with different themes that revolve around the colour red which symbolises love.

House music DJ Lyn will share the stage with DJs Linah, El A’sla, Echo, Gama, King, Dave-Poster, Spane, 2Digits and PabloDJ.

4Fordy’s events manager, Mosebetsi “DJ Spane” Matṧela this week told the Weekender that DJ Lyn’s birthday party would be the highlight of the weekend.

“4Fordy has a plan of providing a platform to local musicians who want to shine and Lyn is one of the focused and passionate ladies in the industry,” Matṧela said.

“And realising that she was celebrating her 21st this weekend, we decided to make it the highlight of our Red Weekend.

“We want to use her as an ambassador to inspire other ladies who want to be in the disc spinning field to pursue that dream for there is a platform here at 4Fordy,” he said.

The Teyateyaneng-born DJ Lyn broke into the music industry in 2013 when she contested at the Vodacom Superstars competition.

She never gave up on her dream of becoming a DJ as she went on to learn from DJ Pablo who won the prestigious competition’s DJ category in 2013. DJ Lyn made it to top five finalists in the 2016 Vodacom Superstar Competition and has since graced a number of stages in Maseru, Berea, Maputsoe and Mohale’s Hoek.

The second year Sociology and Development Studies student at the National University of Lesotho told the Weekender that she intends to use the platform to show people that women can also compete in the music industry.

“As much as we are in a male-dominated industry, it does not mean we are incapable of delivering the best so through this platform that 4fordy has granted me I wish to remind everybody, especially promoters that we can pull crowds too. That is why weekend lineup is dominated by ladies so that together we can get the word out there.

“I always wanted to make a big thing out of my birthday celebration and I am grateful to 4Fordy for making my 21st a memorable one as well as everybody who will be supporting the show,” she said.
